We're grateful for the support of Tangata Tiriti

One of the most beautiful things we’ve seen since launching is the growing number of people requesting their messages to be translated into te reo Māori. It's such a privilege to be part of that learning journey. Whether the sender is Māori or Tangata Tiriti , there’s a shared sense of pride in gifting something that holds depth, purpose, and cultural respect.

The support we’ve received from Tangata Tiriti — allies, learners, and advocates — has been incredible.

Te Kuru o te Marama Dewes in writing for The Spinn Off says “to be a person of the Treaty is to build a relationship with Māori, to understand the history of how this nation was formed and to commit to the ongoing fight for Māori self-sovereignty. It acknowledges that Aotearoa is a multicultural country, that Pākehā aren’t the only grouping brought together with Māori under the Treaty”.

There are millions across Aotearoa who are seeking meaningful ways to connect with Māori culture, and we’re here to welcome and guide that connection, one gift at a time.

At Aroha Avenue Gift Boxes, we believe a gift should do more than just delight — it should connect, uplift, and carry meaning. Every one of our boxes is a reflection of te ao Māori: thoughtful, deeply rooted in story, and designed to honour the artists, authors and pakihi who make our culture thrive.

Each box is blessed with karakia before being sent — an important spiritual step that reflects our respect for tikanga. Our range of occasion-based hero boxes like Ngā Mihi (Thank You), Meinga, Meinga!! (Celebration), and Mana Motuhake (Self Determination) speaks to universal human experiences, while keeping te ao Māori at the heart.

Our stunning box wraps are being upcycled into framed art, and perhaps most uniquely, each box includes a carefully chosen Māori book to match the theme. These aren’t just gifts — they’re invitations to learn, feel, and connect.

Together, we’re building something special — a movement of meaningful gifting, grounded in aroha and shared respect.
